Hello!

Hi, I'm Koos Kleven. I am a software engineer by trade and training. I've been working in the SEO SaaS industry for most of my career. While I do hold an interest in SEO, one of my favorite aspects of being a software engineer is thinking critically about all sorts of seemingly straightforward questions.

I am typically motivated by learning, so my interests are diverse, but I especially enjoy finding creative solutions to problems with interesting constraints. Cost savings and a bit of novelty have led me to explore all sorts of architectures, which I then have to weigh against my experience of maintaining solutions over a long time.

It is impossible to be in this industry without recognizing the impact of AI. I have complex feelings on the subject, as a software engineer, an occasional illustrator, and a full-time human. Without diving in too deeply: as an engineer, I'm interested in the use of AI in my professional life, as a software development and productivity tool; as an artist and consumer of art, I am generally not interested in the results of generative AI "art"; and as a human, I really wish we were on better footing to deal with the ecological, social, and economic impacts of this budding technology.
